03/25/01 at the Kennel Country

Report by Huntsman Matthew Cook

A good size field today set off towards Big Jim's pasture. Hounds drew the coverts well , the field enjoyed negotiated the new 'upright' jump! Going on out into the Church country, although the hounds worked well, no quarry was to be found. Drawing gullies back, the hounds spoke briefly but to no avail. We hacked along more road to the next draw ( due to farmer concerns and cattle in the pastures ) , the field briefly stopped at the whopee wagon ( With MFH Jim's family recipie bloody marys - JB ) . Hounds at the next draw breifly spoke on riot but were stopped. A small but keen field who were remaining ( some of us wimped out due to the cold and horses out of condition on this long hunt - JB ) headed for a new piece of country. After negotiating some tricky country , and fighting their way through the trees they came out in one piece to jump our newest coop - Courtesy of Matthew and Julie and Bob W. . This took us back to Swan lane where we headed for home as we feared we may be late for breakfast as we had been out for over 3 and a half hours! A lovely ham breakfast was provided by Sam M. and the group enjoyed a bit of conversation before heading home.

Happy but chilly field roading to the next cast ( Pictures courtesy Sue B. )
