We had a pretty good day yesterday. With a large majority of our best hunting girls in season, I was forced to press some puppies into service which made for a bit of pack unsteadiness early on.
After settling in we hunted for 3 1/2 hours over lovely country before we were able to get up a coyote, which ran right past our whip Mary Lynn Forst and judge Pat Pearce. Hounds ran the game for a mile directly into a stiff northwest breeze before they made loss. By the time we got back to the kennels, we had been out 4 hours and 50 minutes.
We at Nodaway were honored to have in our field yesterday Mr. Willie Leahy, venerable Field Master of the Galway Blazers, Joint MFH Liam Clancy of the Blazers, and Mr Peter Mulligan member of the Blazers. In addition Professional Huntsman Tommy Jackson of Mission Valley came up for the day. We appreciated the judges perspectives and comments and I think the field had a good time as footing was superb, jumps stout, but inviting (we only dumped a few riders), and though only slightly above freezing w/ a brisk northwest wind, the sun was out and we covered an awful lot of ground.
Cheers,
